Offered Fall semester. Honors Foundation Course

Have you ever thought about what everyday life looks like for someone who depends on an assistance animal? In this Honors Seminar, you’ll step into their world — learning about the critical role assistance animals play, the challenges their owners face, and how barriers in society and veterinary care impact both human and animal health. We’ll dive into real-world issues like ableism and health inequities, and you’ll take part in activities that help you build empathy, sharpen your communication skills, and see your surroundings through a new lens. By the end of the course, you’ll create a project that shows how your perspective has changed and how you would advocate for better access and understanding in your own community.

Note: There will be class sessions with various species of animals in the classroom (dog, cat, reptile, etc.).
