Honor Your Achievement Success Degree Accomplishment

Time to celebrate this part of the journey.  And to look forward to what is next.

Graduation Requirements

Graduation is a time to reflect on all you have accomplished. Among these will undoubtedly be the completion of the Honors program. Multiple curricular paths lead to this moment. Remind yourself of the great work you’ve done.

Completing each of the program requirements means you graduate as an Honors student from Colorado State University. This in and of itself is a giant accomplishment for which you should take pride. Those students who earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (rounded up from 3.456) will additionally have the Honors Scholar designation on their transcript and diploma.

The Honors Graduate Recognition Ceremony

Colleges get the privilege of conferring the undergraduate degree upon students. Honors@CSU holds a separate recognition ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of Honors graduates. Graduates will receive a medallion that can be worn during their college ceremony.

The Honors Recognition Ceremony takes place the Friday of Finals Week in both the Fall and Spring semesters. All Honors graduates are encouraged to attend to celebrate this community. All Honors thesis advisors, faculty, and staff are also invited to attend. Every graduate may bring up to five guests (if more guests want to celebrate, please check in with the Honors front office to arrange).  We kindly request that all graduates RSVP via email, indicating the number of guests they plan to bring to the event. While we aim to accommodate all attendees, please be advised that seating availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Should the number of guests exceed five per graduate, we will accommodate this request, subject to seating availability.

Since this is a recognition ceremony rather than a college commencement, graduates should dress business casual rather than in regalia. Regalia is reserved for college commencements, and the Honors medallion will be a great addition to it.

Please pay careful attention to all email communications for details.

Regalia

Honors students are the only graduates at CSU who are eligible to wear the green robes. This makes Honors students easily identifiable during their college's commencement ceremonies. In addition to the green robes, students will also wear a black Honors stole, and their Honors medallion received during the Honors recognition ceremony (if unable to attend the ceremony, please stop by the Honors office to pick up a medal). Honors candidates who attain Latin distinction wear gold cords with their green regalia rather than the gold robes of other students receiving Latin distinction. Upon ordering, be sure to select "Green Gown-University Honors Program". This is a keepsake gown.

Can't Make it to the Honors Recognition Ceremony?

Students can pick up the Honors medallions in the front office prior to graduation weekend if they know they won’t be able to make the recognition ceremony.  Also, feel free to share the link to the recorded ceremony and celebrate time and time again.
