Congratulations and Welcome to Honors@CSU!

You are now among the growing ranks of motivated, talented students who have chosen to enrich their time at CSU as part of the Honors Program. You’ll enjoy the benefits of a program that offers a flexible, personalized approach to your undergraduate education so you can excel both in and beyond the classroom. You’ll also enjoy the benefits of a community that examines intersections of divergent thinking across disparate fields of study to bring innovative and creative solutions forward into the world. We hope you can’t wait to get started.

While all students admitted to CSU have important steps to take, those joining the Honors Program as first-year students have a few additional steps to consider. We’ve highlighted some important next steps here to help ease your transition and set you up for success.

Next Steps for First-Year Honors Students

Step 1. Confirm Intent to Honors

Confirm your intent no later than May 1st. This is a separate confirmation process from CSU.

Step 1:  Confirm Your Intent to Participate in the Honors Program before May 1.

The Honors confirmation process is separate from the CSU confirmation process. You MUST confirm your intent to participate in the Honors program no later than May 1st. The Honors scholarship for first-year students will not be awarded until you have confirmed your intent. Failure to confirm by May 1 may result in the student losing their spot in Honors and being placed at the bottom of a waitlist.

If you have been admitted to Honors but wish to take a gap year before coming to CSU, you may defer your admission for a year. Please still confirm your intent to participate in Honors and contact Admissions about your decision to defer for a year. Your spot in the Honors Program will be waiting for you when you’re ready to begin your journey.

Step 2: Confirm Your Intent to Enroll at CSU on or before May 1.

CSU wants to know your plans as well, and remember, Honors confirmation is separate from CSU confirmation. Follow the “Next Steps for Freshmen/First-Year Admits” from the Admissions website.  Be sure to complete each of the items on that guide.

Step 3. Apply for Housing.

The Honors Residential Learning Community (HRLC) includes the entire Honors dorm and select floors in Aspen, both located in Academic Village, as well as select floors in Edwards. These are popular choices for first-year Honors students and space is competitive.

Acceptance into the Honors Program does not guarantee a housing assignment in the Honors dorm, Aspen, or Edwards. These spaces are choices for Honors students to select and are available in a limited capacity.

The Honors Program does not make housing assignments nor decisions as residential placement and programming is separate from Honors Community programming. Please contact Housing for more information.

Step 4.  Sign Up for Ram Orientation.

All new students attend a summer Ram Orientation session to learn about the campus, to be introduced to CSU culture, and to register for classes. It’s an important time to connect with other Rams. Honors Program advisors and staff will welcome you and help as you register for your first CSU classes. Please sign up as soon as possible, as sessions fill quickly.  Ram Orientation Sign-Up.

Step 5. Prepare for your Orientation Session.

About a week prior to your scheduled Orientation session, an Honors advisor will send pertinent information about how best to prepare. Please pay special attention to emails from Shivon Costin, Rachel Tate, or honors@colostate.edu.
