Join us for a fun and flexible voyage as we explore peacemaking in this Honors course, where we draw inspiration from an array of influential figures who have shaped lasting connections across diverse realms. Delve into Machiavelli’s strategic insights, Tupac’s poetic activism, Nelson Mandela’s resilience, & the unexpected diplomatic influence of Taylor Swift. “Peacemakers” goes beyond traditional boundaries, integrating the transformative power of the modern Civil Rights Movement, the poignant events of 1963 Birmingham, the whimsy of dwarf goat yoga, & altruism spread by Peace Corps members. Through discussions, TED Talks, films, & hands-on experiences, this seminar encourages students to consider evolving ideas & unconventional influences which contribute to the rich tapestry of universality. This summer, discover the power of voices & approaches as diverse as Greta Thunberg, Temple Grandin, Chief Joseph, & RBG in creating a more inclusive & tolerant global society. This seminar has a free textbook available via e-reserve.
