Offered Fall and Spring Semesters

“Tikkun Olam” is a Jewish concept defined by acts of kindness performed to perfect or repair the world. The phrase is in the Mishnah, a body of classical rabbinic teachings. This term is often used when discussing social policy issues, ensuring a safeguard for those who may be at a disadvantage. For the summer of 2024, our class will meet at Carnegie Center for Creativity at 200 Mathews Street, home of FC Public Media. This semester’s course takes the idea of community resilience and focuses on the work of local nonprofit organizations in Fort Collins. Alongside JT 420 we will create podcasts and web-based media that will highlight individual organizations and coordinate our efforts with these nonprofits by area of service (health, youth, environment, etc) and will be distributed by FC Public Media, and CSU’s Center for Public Deliberation’s Deliberative Journalism Project.
